I am using expertGPS 2.8.2. The internet map retrieval does not appear to be working? and has not been working for a few days? Is this related to the demise of topozone discussion? Is the site just down for maintanence or is it defunct? Is there a fix coming? Or will now have to manually go get maps?

It's working fine here. Post a zip code for the area you are having trouble with. Can you see the maps at http://www.terraserver-usa.com in Internet Explorer (not Firefox)?

Here is an area close to Yuma AZ with issues. 85364 zip code. As of this morning, it appears terraserver is having some problems. It is running very slowly directly through their site (on explorer). This is likely why the map retrival is running slow.

Just thought I'd mention that it's possible for ExpertGPS to start failing to correctly download maps (or aerial photos) from the Terraserver that's separate from Terraserver problems. I've only seen it happen with a slow Internet connection and not with a fast connection.

ExpertGPS will be downloading tiles just fine and then I'll start getting "Invalid Map" on every tile it's trying to download. At this point it seems to be in a permanent failure state (I think a waited 20 minutes or more, perhaps a year ago, to see if something would change). Exiting EGPS and restarting will get the downloading going correctly again. Seems to me disabling map retrieval and re-enabling didn't fix it.

How long it takes to get into this failure state is random but changing scales seems to bring it on faster.

It is 6:00 PM 22 April 2008 at zip code 01944 (Manchester, MA) and Expert GPS version 2.8.3 will not access either topo maps or photo maps. I can access Terraserver USA using Internet Explorer with no problem.

Not having been able to access topo maps for several days, and specifically the evening of 22 April 08, I tried again this morning. I received an error message, apparently generated by ExpertGPS, stating that the server was experiencing delays. I left the computer for awhile and when I returned the topo map was displayed. I then tried to access the photo maps. The photo maps appeared after a time, but evenutally all the tiles filled in. At this point I do not believe the problem is within ExpertGPS, but cannot account for why the maps appear so quickly when connected through Internet Explorer.

At 6AM on the 23rd, I was able to retrieve topos and aerials for that zip code using ExpertGPS.
