Garmin USB Driver Error

4 posts in this topic

Hi Dan

I have downloaded V5.77... however when I connect my GPS 73 with the USB cable, I keep getting the Error Message saying  "Garmin USB Drivers need to be installed on this Computer, Click Help for Instructions.

I have downloaded the latest set of Garmin USB Drivers from the Garmin Website, but I keep getting the same error message every time I connect my GPS73 to the USB cable.

I'm not sure what else to do?  I have tried reinstalling the drivers several times, but with no success.

I am using Windows 10 on my desktop... so I tried using a laptop running Windows 7... but the same USB driver error keeps occurring.

Cheers,  Karl

Can you connect to your GPS 73 with Garmin BaseCamp or any of the Garmin update utilities?

Hi Dan

Yes, I downloaded the latest version of Basecamp (4.6.2), and my GPS 73 connected first time, no issues.

Puzzling, any ideas?

Does your GPS 73 appear as an external hard drive when it's plugged into USB? If so:

To see what's going wrong, I need the GPX folder from your GPS.
Connect your GPS to your computer's USB port.  It should appear as a
removable drive, with a drive letter like G:  Using Windows File
Explorer, open that drive, and open the Garmin folder.  Send me the
GarminDevice.XML file, and the contents of the GPX folder.  To send
the folder, right-click it, and click Send to Compressed File (.zip)
This will create GPX.zip

Send me GarminDevice.XML and GPX.zip as email attachments. (support @@ expertgpsdotcom)
